Welcome to People, Places and Things – The Stuff of Memories. People always say they have ‘People to see, Places to go, and Things to do’ which are the foundation of memories. Memories can be happy, sentimental, heart-warming, and unfortunately, heart-breaking. We will explore all of these things – the memories of things we did, where we went, and who we did them with. My goal with this blog is to share a memory of a person, a place, and a thing every week.
Have you ever wondered exactly how many people you have meet in your lifetime? Me either! But I am willing to bet that if anyone ever did, the number would be enormous. But think about all the classmates you have had, summer camp friends, fellow church-goers, co-workers, team mates, and social activities acquaintances. There is a wealth of memories in just the people in our lives.
And what about the places we have been? I don’t just mean the family vacations to Disney Land, the senior class trip to Washington DC, or the once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy. Those are awesome memories but I am also talking about going to the beach for a day of fun in the sun, the weekly trip to the local library, the campgrounds for the summer’s many camping trips or the reservoir after a snowfall for sledding. It is also restaurants, malls, museums, concerts, fairs, sporting events, and any other place we have been in our life.
If we really think about all the things we have done in our lives, we all could write a book. Things like eating Sunday dinner at grandma’s, the music we listened to on the radio, the movies we watched at the theater, the sports we played, the conversations we had, walks on the beach or in the woods, or volunteering. The things we did that were happy things, crazy things, funny things, stupid things and even the angry things.
People, Places, Things – The Stuff of Memories is a place to share memories. We all have memories. Hopefully, most of them are happy or at least taught us a lesson that made us a better person. Whatever our memories are, this is the place to share those memories.
Come, take a walk down Memory Lane with me.
